The gate is the moving part
A fence just stands there. A gate gets opened and slammed thousands of times, so it is where hinges loosen, posts lean and latches stop catching. Gate posts should be heavier and set deeper than the line posts around them.
Driveway gates
Double swing gates need room to open and a level path; on a sloping driveway a sliding gate is often the better fit. Automation needs power at the post and a decision about remotes or keypads before the fence is finished, so it is easier planned in than added later.
Farm gates
A wide farm gate hangs on a strainer post that has to carry its weight without leaning. Hinges, a chain or latch, and a stop are the basics, and the fence either side needs to be strained off the same post.
Pool gates
A pool gate has its own rules: it must not open toward the pool, must self-close and self-latch from any open position, and an outside latch release must be at least 1500mm above the ground. Hinges that stick out more than 10mm need to be at least 900mm apart or carry a 60-degree safety cap on the lower one. See pool fence rules.

Which way should a pool gate open?
Never toward the pool. It must self-close and self-latch from any open position, and an outside latch release must be at least 1500mm above the ground.
